I used to watch Thriller as a child with my parents, except in the Southern TV region where we were, it was 'The Saturday Night Thriller'. I vividly remember the episodes you mention, especially the village of Satanists, all limping with the same foot because on one side they all had cloven hooves! Fantastic. My sister was so obsessed with it she would often quote the villagers - 'Moon pale, moon gold' - at me at random moments. And we loved the twangy clavichord theme music at the start.

Oh my goodness, the joy of Thriller! It was compulsive Saturday night viewing - I only watched it as I was allowed to stay up late on Saurday night. It was such marvellous kitsch, but brilliantly done. I confess to having them on DVD...I wonder if you could help solve a riddle. Both my husband and I think we remember an episode involving Susan George and rats. We both remember similar details, but can find no trace of it. It has stayed with me, and probably accounts for my fear of the wretched creatures, but what on earth was it? It may have been from a similar series but perhaps you remember it? Thank you for such a treat in my inbox this morning and do hope you feel fully recovered soon.

Oh Deborah I LOVE that you love Thriller!

I ought to get a DVD as I fear them being removed from YouTube... as for Susan George, I wonder if anybody else knows about this? I don't think it's a Thriller, her name doesn't come up in the VERY long and rather illustrious overall cast list. She did quite a few thriller-type things I think but I don't know the rats one. Sounds absolutely terrifying!

I'm all better now, thanks for your kind words, and tbh being a bit ill was a very good excuse to watch Thriller.

That's my next bingeworthy series chosen!

Why do I know nothing at all about this TV series? I have clearly missed out.

Fabulous Saturday night viewing Laura!! I remember it well (or maybe a rerun) but it blended in wonderfully well with my Tales of the Unexpected , Murder Mystery and Suspense (does anyone remember this old one I wonder?) but Thriller was a cut above. Wonderfully kitsch indeed and thank you for reminding me about it. Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery! What a fabulous read with my Sunday home made soup!!

Oh thanks Nic! I don't remember MM and Suspense although have to say it sounds very much my thing... But it's the Thriller kitsch, as you say, that seals the deal.

I'm all well again thank you.

This looks like a lot of fun.

Lately I've been listening to R.D. Wingfield radio plays from the 70s to get to sleep at night. Titles like "The Night They Deliver the Money," "Smiling and Beautiful Death, and "Cat and Mouse Game," which really tells you all you need to know. There is something irresistible about 70s thrillers !

There really is, they know what they're doing! I like the sound of those radio plays - great recommendation, thank you.

Loved this Laura! I don't think we got this in Australia. British TV from that era that I remember includes The Good Life, Are You Being Served? To the Manor Born, The Goodies and Yes, Minister. (I LOVED The Good Life as a kid - I thought Felicity Kendall was so beautiful.)

Thank you! Had no idea all those shows had gone to Australia - I too loved watching The Good Life with my parents. Very charming. Felicity K still looks absolutely marvellous!

I barely remember it. Where can I watch?

They're all on YouTube.... for the moment anyway!

Oh my! I have to see those outfits. Perhaps there will be a reboot (no pun intended) on Netflix or similar soon - the 1970s certainly seem to be having a moment.

Great minds, Ann! Thanks so much for reading - I was thinking what a fun idea a reboot would be - although one wouldn't want to lose that blissful lack of irony....

The outfits, yes. Definitely not to be missed.
